Steven Berk, P’07, became a Grover E. Murray Professor at Texas Tech University in August. The professorship recognizes faculty members who have attained national and international distinction in their fields. Steven is dean of the university’s School of Medicine and executive vice president for clinical affairs. Arthur Caplan is the Mitty Professor of Bioethics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He writes, “Aside from the misery of living through a plague, COVID has presented me with many policy opportunities.” Among them, he helped develop an ethical framework for distributing drugs and vaccines for Johnson & Johnson; helped develop rationing policies for NYU Langone Medical Center and other health systems, to aid them in determining ICU access; serves as an adviser to Moderna; and is a member of the NCAA Sports and COVID committee. Janis Spring reports her book “After the Affair: Healing the Pain and Rebuilding Trust When a Partner Has Been Unfaithful” has sold more than 600,000 copies, which she says speaks to the number of people affected by the topic. She’s written two other books: “How Can I Forgive You: The Courage to Forgive, the Freedom Not To” and “Life With Pop: Lessons on Caring for an Aging Parent.”
