Anne Howard, Heller PhD’90, received the Contributions to the Graduate Program Award during the graduate commencement ceremony at Fitchburg (Mass.) State University. Her work has focused on preparing teachers to help those with severe disabilities thrive both academically and as individuals. Vladislav Shapiro, MA’93, was named director of identity management at Immersion Consulting. Marty Kingsbury, MFA’93, wrote “Rescuing Oricito: The Almost True Story of a South American Street Dog,” a novel for young adults based on her rescue dog’s journey to her home. Marty is a poet, playwright and English instructor at Urban College of Boston. Kevin Kern, MFA’93, is an assistant professor of theater at the University of Mount Union. Jane Mattson, Heller PhD’94, married Steve Shapiro on April 19, 2014, at Bernard’s in Ridgefield, Conn. Jane is the president of a health-care consultancy in Norwalk. Mark Taylor, MA’95, was named chief of staff by Long Beach (Calif.) Mayor Robert Garcia. Mark served as director of college advancement, public affairs and governmental relations at Long Beach City College, where he worked for seven years. Jeffrey Richard, MA’96, Heller MMHS’96, was named executive vice president of the American Technion Society. He most recently worked as vice president for development at Columbia University, where he played a major role in Columbia’s $6 billion campaign. Evan Hochberg, Heller MMHS’96, was named first chief strategy officer at United Way Worldwide. Formerly, he was national director of corporate citizenship at Deloitte, where he was responsible for the company’s philanthropic portfolio, and engineered its groundbreaking pro bono program and award-winning efforts in education. Roberta Montemorra Marvin, PhD’92, had two books published in 2013: The Cambridge Verdi Encyclopedia and a co-edited volume of essays, “Music in Print and Beyond: Hildegard von Bingen to the Beatles.”
