The project that I am currently working on interrogates the ethics of transnational and transracial adoption through a combination of critical race theory, feminist theory, and autoethnographic research. I started the project as part of an independent study at my undergraduate institution. In the process, I have come to realize that adoption is an often overlooked topic, even within the field of American--or even Asian-American--Studies. Being a transnational and transracial adoptee myself, this unfortunate discovery only fueled what has now become an ongoing passion project.
