Janet Hentoff Krauss writes about her experience as she sheltered in place: “I wrote many poems to be able to cope with the fear of the virus, and the raw news of the stricken and those who succumbed. Most of my poems are about the pandemic and the protests against police brutality, and in defense of the Dreamers. Zoom has become a blessing, allowing me to reconnect with all my poetry groups, seminars and Brandeis lectures, and to lead a book discussion. Emails remain central, however, for reaching out to friends, family and former students. I hope to be able to return to my volunteer jobs with kindergarten kids and high-school students in the fall.”
