Mitch Albom wrote an online serialized novel, “Human Touch,” a story about hope during the coronavirus pandemic. A new segment was published each week at mitchalbom.com. The website encourages the novel’s readers to contribute to the Detroit Beats COVID-19! initiative. Linda Alpert and husband Marc Karell celebrated the birth of their first grandchild, Lily Catherine, on April 2. Son Daniel Karell and his wife, Hannah Hudson, are the baby’s parents. Linda reports she is still working in Barclays’ Compliance Department (albeit remotely) and has no plans to return to New York City for the foreseeable future. Lisa Fruitt writes, “The past few years have brought some significant changes. My husband, Gary, and I both closed our businesses and retired. We bought a house on Cape Cod and, in just a month or so, will be moving from Lexington, Massachusetts (24 years), back to Waltham. Like everyone, we’ve been dealing with the pandemic and our nightmare of a president but are so grateful to be healthy and safe.” Jerome Kemp, P’10, has retired as managing director and global head of futures and OTC clearing at Citigroup, after a 36-year career in the futures industry. He also stepped down as board chair at global trade organization FIA, a position he had held since 2018. Jonathan Klein has been appointed vice chancellor for research at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he is the Savithri and Samuel Raj Endowed Professor and executive vice head of the College of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics. He and Susan Cohn recently celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary and the first birthday of their first grandchild, Alden Harvey. Rabbi Evan Krame has been elected president of the Washington (D.C.) Board of Rabbis. Evan and David Abramowitz ’87 co-founded the Jewish Studio, in Maryland. Karen Levenson’s book “Confessions of an Animal Rights Terrorist” is scheduled to be published by Lantern Books in the fall. Roslynn Mauskopf has become chief judge of the Eastern District of New York, where she has served as a judge since October 2007, after her nomination by President George W. Bush on the recommendation of then New York Gov. George Pataki. In June 2019, Ellen Kreisworth McQueeney enjoyed a Mod 9 reunion on Martha’s Vineyard with Deborah Aron; Karen Brot Samson; and Esther Fine Kletter, P’12, all ’78.
