Donald Aptekar writes, “Reading Norman Winer’s class note about the birth of his first grandchild prompts me to add that his grandson, Jack, is best friends with my first granddaughter, Cecilia, because their parents share a neuroscience research lab at Berkeley. Norm and I were roommates at Brandeis 50 years ago; we got together at Reunion after our grandkids reunited us. Small world!” Ann Carol Grossman, P’20, reports, “I’m so glad we had our 50th Reunion last year, before the current craziness. Staying at home has provided me an opportunity to spend a lot more time playing music, which is all to the good. My happiest news is that my daughter, Abigail Arnold, PhD’20, successfully defended her dissertation and now holds a PhD in English from Brandeis.” Mary Candace Mize has written a book of historical fiction focused on women’s rights, “The Flypaper Witch Murders,” set in a Hungarian village between the world wars. She describes it as “a page-turner with lots of romance as well as conflict.” Judith Tellerman helps lead egalitarian Friday-night services on Zoom for Chicago Loop Synagogue as a cantorial soloist. She is also providing psychotherapy via Zoom and telephone as a clinical psychologist.
