Theoretical physicist Robert Rosner is the 2023 president of the American Physical Society. In an interview on the APS website, he reminisces about deciding to become a physicist during his undergrad years: “Brandeis was a relatively young school, but it had a fantastic physics faculty and a small cohort of physics majors. It was an amazing experience for me; the die was cast.” Ellen C. Schwartz in February celebrated her (adult) bat mitzvah, reading Torah and chanting the second part of the Haftarah. Larry Shar is president and co-owner of Lowy, his family’s fine art restoration and framing studio, where son Brad serves as vice president and co-owner. Daughter Tracy lives with her longtime boyfriend, dividing her time between Bedford-Stuyvesant and Maine. Daughter Hilary teaches kindergartners at the Town School, in Manhattan. Larry and his wife, Tracy, live in Boca Raton, Florida, and NYC. Leon Stechenberg retired nine years ago from his general and vascular surgery practice. He keeps busy with competitive table tennis, pickleball, sailing, and windsurfing. He and Barbara ’68, who have been married 54 years, have two daughters, two sons-in-law, and five grandkids.
