Storing Unstretched Canvases

Please be sure your unstretched canvas meets the following criteria before submitting for long term storage in the shipping container.

  • Paintings must be rolled with the paint facing out.
  • Paintings must be rolled around a rigid cardboard tube. Resources for purchasing tubes can be found below.
  • It is recommended that the rigid cardboard tube have a diameter of at least 4”, tubes with a diameter less than 4” will not be accepted for storage.
  • Rigid cardboard tubes must be at least equal to or longer than the shorter of the two measurements of the painting. For example, a painting that is 36”x48” must be rolled around a tube that is at least 36” long.
  • Multiple paintings by the same student may be rolled around a single tube, the tube must be equal to or longer than the shorter of the two measurements of the largest painting that will be rolled.

Other options for purchasing tubes exist these are just a few of them. Students may purchase their own tube or tubes can be ordered in bulk by one student and then divided amongst students in the class upon payment to the student who did the purchasing.
