Language Learning Resources
Here is a list of some resources, both inside and outside of Brandeis, that you might use to help you with language learning in order to meet your language requirement. The list includes the languages most frequently used for the exam, as well as general resources.
- Brandeis offers undergraduate courses in many languages. If needed, the language faculty can make arrangements for you to participate in these courses. Please note that these will not count towards the credits needed for your degree.
- Online, Duolingo provides free, self-guided courses in a wide variety of languages.
- GSAS students can register for one course per semester at Babson College, Bentley University, Boston College, Boston University, the Graduate Consortium in Women’s Studies at MIT, or Regis College; this is also an option for language courses. Please note that these will not count towards the credits needed for your degree.
- The Critical Language Scholarship Program is a fully-funded summer program that allows students to study languages abroad. For some languages, previous study is required. Meredith Monaghan in Academic Fellowships is available to support students with applying for this fellowship; visit the Academic Fellowships page for additional information.
- Brandeis faculty who speak various languages, including Turkish, are also available as resources. For more information, contact Abigail Arnold.
