Josh and Jaye-Lacey (Pearlman) Centor welcomed daughter Layla Reece on Dec. 29. She joins proud big brothers Gabriel, 8, and Lucas, 4. Alexandra Gelles Etscovitz was named Massachusetts Elementary Art Teacher of the Year by the Massachusetts Art Education Association. Debbi Finkelstein teaches at the Epstein Hillel School and works at the Jewish Teen Initiative of Greater Boston. Sharon (Israel) Grysman; husband Jeremy; and big siblings Ella, Jesse, Gabrielle and Natalie welcomed a baby boy, Samuel Aiden, on Aug. 26. Anjali Harjani left the New York City financial world to found Malabar Baby, a baby textile business (alumni who would like a discount on web orders may use the code “BrandeisAlum”). The company’s headquarters are in Hong Kong, where Anjali lives with her husband and son, Aryan. Adam J. Herman is executive director of Kelley Direct Programs, the online MBA and MS degree programs of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. He oversees enrollment, student experience, operations excellence and talent management outcomes, as well as domestic consulting and global experiential-learning programs. Matthew Konjoian has moved from Washington, D.C., to Denver to be close to his wife’s new job and her family, and enjoy the scenery and nature of Colorado. He reports he has already made connections with Brandeis alums living in the Mile High City. Diana Kuan wrote and took the photographs for her second cookbook, “Red Hot Kitchen: Classic Asian Chili Sauces from Scratch and Delicious Dishes to Make With Them,” released by Avery in February. Her first book, “The Chinese Takeout Cookbook,” was a Wall Street Journal best-seller. Irene Lehrer Sandalow has received the 31st annual Samuel A. Goldsmith Young Professional Award from the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. The honor highlights the achievements of early-career professionals whose work at a local Jewish agency has benefited the entire Jewish community. Irene is the founder and director of SketchPad, a shared workspace and community for Jewish organizations and entrepreneurs. Deborah (Berkman) Thomashow and her husband, Peter, welcomed Maxwell George on Sept. 21. Big sister Molly is in love with the new arrival.
