Pat Garofalo is celebrating the publication of his first book, “The Billionaire Boondoggle: How Our Politicians Let Corporations and Bigwigs Steal Our Money and Jobs,” by Thomas Dunne Books in April. In September, David Miyashiro won the national CAN-Do Award from 50CAN (50-State Campaign for Achievement Now). He is founding executive director of Hawaii­KidsCAN, which advocates for the success of every Hawaii student, from pre-K through college and career, by making improvements in policy. Kaila Knight Schwartz is pursuing a PhD in history at the College of William & Mary. She earned master’s degrees in history and archives management from Simmons College, and a master’s in history from William & Mary. Kalia lives in Williamsburg, Virginia, with her cats, Benny and Oliver.
