Four-Year Plan


Below is an outline of actions you need to take during your four years at Brandeis to be successful in the financial industry. To learn more how these action steps fit into your larger career development plan, visit Hiatt's four-year timeline pages.


First Year

Fall and Spring 

  • Student Goal: Do well academically, especially in analytical classes; Get involved on campus
  • Student Event: Hiatt's regular student programming
  • Student Preparation: Leadership development, academic excellence

Sophomore Year

Fall

  • Student Goal: Students determine if finance/Ibanking is the career you really want
  • Student Event: Finance events and Hiatt’s regular student programming
  • Student Preparation: Begin industry research

Spring

  • Student Goal: Secure a summer finance internship
  • Student Event: Hiatt’s regular student programming (resume, cover letter, networking and interviewing)
  • Student Preparation: Develop resume, research & exploration of divisions at bank(s) and initial networking with recent alumni in the industry

Junior Year

Fall

  • Student Goal: Participate in summer analyst resume book; due: late November/early December
  • Student Event: Finance events and Hiatt’s regular student programming
  • Student Preparation: Perfecting resume, continue to network with alumni and begin mock interviewing

Winter

  • Student Preparation: Continue to mock interview and network

Spring

  • Student Goal: Interviews for summer analyst programs
  • Student Event: Hiatt event for full-time recruiting program (April)
  • Student Preparation: Begin researching other options for summer if no summer analyst job is secured (March); Continue to network

Senior Year

Summer/Fall

  • Student Goal: Resume book for full-time positions (August); Interview
  • Student Preparation: Continue to mock interview and network; Attend Hiatt events as needed
  • Student Action: Secure jobs and report back to Hiatt
