Identity Management System

What is Identity Management?

Identity Management (IDM) is the organizational process for ensuring individuals have the appropriate access to technology resources. IDM software is what the ITS team uses to ensure that everyone affiliated with Brandeis has the right access to the systems and security settings they need. We are switching our IDM vendor to Fischer Identity. While most of this work is happening in ITS, there will be some outward facing changes that will affect Brandeis faculty, staff, and students.

What is Changing?

The most visible changes to the Brandeis community will be found in the Brandeis Account Tools page and the Directory pages on the Brandeis website.

The Brandeis Account Tools page will have an updated interface and easy to navigate menu to change your Brandeis password. Users will not be required to change their Brandeis password with this change to the new interface. You will continue to use your current Brandeis password until the time it expires as usual.

Online Office & People Directories

A public office directory will be available on the Brandeis website. This directory will contain links to department pages (if the department has a public Brandeis webpage), the main building location of the department, and the main contact information (phone number and/or email) for the department.

This summer, changes to the office and people directory will now be made directly in Workday, which is the University’s system of record for employee information. Specific members of each department will receive access to change office information in Workday. Training materials will be available for users.

The Brandeis People Directory will continue to be available to members of the Brandeis community only - this directory will continue to list names, office location, phone numbers, and emails for faculty, staff, and postdoctoral scholars, as well as Brandeis affiliates.

The current Office Directory listings vary from department to department in terms of structure - with some departments using an organizational chart structure (the manager listed, then direct reports) or grouped by role (Department Chair, followed by faculty, staff, and postdoctoral scholars and researchers). The structure of the new, SSO, non-public Brandeis Directory will eliminate the need for subgroups within departments by having all faculty, staff, postdocs, and affiliates rolling up to the department head and listed by alphabetical order. As the system of record, Workday will continue to host organizational charts and management structures.
