Nature of grant To cover certain dissertation-related expenses
Eligibility All PhD students who have completed coursework and are in good academic standing are invited to apply
Award Proposals within $1000 will be considered
Acceptable reimbursable expenses
  • Dissertation-related expenses (e.g., travel, lodging, archival access, research supplies, transcriptions, research informants’ incentives, consulting or other direct research costs).
  • The grant does NOT cover conferences, food, alcohol, Brandeis fees/tuition, health insurance, laptops, software, hardware, textbooks for courses, or other non-direct costs.

How to apply
  • A cover letter outlining the purpose and significance of your study with budget justifications and a statement on why this grant would be helpful
  • A detailed budget broken into categories of expense, providing links to expenses, unit costs and per diem estimates as appropriate 
  •  A timeline for completing your work
  • What stage are you in your doctoral work
  • A letter of support from your faculty advisor  Note: Ask your advisor to write a letter and send directly to Jessica Basile, assistant dean, Office of Graduate Affairs
