Students are permitted to reschedule a final exam if they meet the criteria outlined in the FAQ section below. Please review this criteria to determine whether or not you qualify. Can I make travel plans based on the Tentative Exam Schedule?
The final exam schedule is posted and I see that I have two exams at the same time. What do I do?
When the Final Exam Schedule is posted, some students will discover they have two exams at the same time. The Registrar’s Office will notify these students, informing them that one of their two conflicting exams will be moved to the Conflict Resolution Exam Period, which is the last exam period during finals week.
I have a religious obligation which prevents me from taking one or more of my final exams. What do I do?
Students who have a religious obligation that prevents them from participating in a regularly schedule final exam must complete the Final Rescheduling Request form, which will become available on this site on March 7th.
I have at least 3 final exams in consecutive exam blocks within a 24 hour period. Can I reschedule one these exams?
Students who have three final exams in three consecutive exam blocks within a 24 hour period, as indicated on the Final Exam Schedule, have the option of postponing one of the three exams to the Conflict Resolution Exam Period, contingent on the instructor’s approval. A Final Exam Reschedule Request Form will become available on this site on March 7th.
I have an approved accommodation for extended time on exams. How can I request an exam to be rescheduled?
If finals exams start on a Thursday this semester and I have 3 exams in the first two days, can I reschedule one of these finals?
How can I request to reschedule a final exam?
To request to reschedule a final exam, students must complete the Final Exam Reschedule Request form (available on our website March 7 - April 21). Students who qualify to reschedule a final exam must fall under at least one of the categories listed below.
- Religious Obligation
- 3 consecutive exams within 24 hours
- 2 exams on the same day for students with an extended time accommodation
- 3 exams on Thursday and Friday in semesters where the exam period begins on a Thursday
Please read these steps carefully and start the process early. The request process can take up to 5 business days. Here are the steps:
Step 1: Complete the Online Request Form
Complete this form between March 7th, 2017 and April 21st, 2017 to initiate the process.
Step 2: Registrar Reviews Student Request
The Office of the University Registrar will review your request and determine whether or not you are eligible to have your exam rescheduled.
Step 3: Notification
You will be notified of our decision via email within 2 business days. If you do not receive a decision within 2 business days, please contact the Registrar's Office at email@example.com.
Step 4: Approval
If your request is approved you will receive an email that contains a Final Exam Request Approval form. You must print the form and have it signed by your instructor and/or the Office of Disability Services.
Step 5: Return Completed Final Exam Request Approval Form
Once you've obtained the required signatures, bring your Final Exam Approval form to the Registrar's Office in person no later than the posted deadline (April 28th). Be sure to have a photo ID with you. Alternatively you may scan the completed and signed form and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org from your Brandeis email account.
