Angels in America Part One: Millennium Approaches

An abridged version of Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize winning play. New York City, 1985: the fates of two vastly different but equally troubled couples become intertwined within questionable realms of reality. Louis, a neurotic gay Jew, learns that his partner, former-drag-queen Prior, has contracted AIDS, and as Prior's sickness progresses, Louis's ability to cope deteriorates. Meanwhile, closeted homosexual Mormon Republican Joe Pitt is offered a major promotion by his mentor, a bigoted lawyer named Roy Cohn. For Joe, the potential move and his troubles with his sexuality throw a wrench in his marriage with his valium-addicted, agoraphobic wife, Harper, who lives in a world of hallucinations. As these two worlds collide with flashes of humor, raw honesty, and theatrical magic, Angels confronts the struggles of human nature, identity, and relationships in a turbulent era of American politics while forcing us to question our relationship with time. For mature audiences.
