Anthropology Student-Faculty Research Partnership (ASFRP) - Student Bios
Asset Tokenization and Cryptocurrencies as Cultural Phenomena
Faculty researcher: Elizabeth Ferry
Student researcher: Haoran Cheng
Hi there! My name is Haoran Cheng, and I'm a sophomore from Beijing majoring in anthropology and computer science. Outside of academics, I play trombone in BWO and love to play basketball. In my first year’s economic anthropology course, Professor Ferry showed me a new lens to view the NFT and crypto, and that led to our research this semester.
In-depth historical archival research and transcription
Faculty researcher: Charlie Goudge
Student researcher: Vivien Fair
I am a senior majoring in anthropology. If I'm not doing schoolwork, you can probably find me working at the Brandeis Library or walking outside somewhere. During my Student-Faculty Partnership, I worked on transcribing and consolidating pay lists from Tudway of Wells, an Antiguan sugar plantation. Dating to 1875, these lists provide some information about the enslaved peoples living on the plantation, so wherever the enslaved workers were mentioned, I highlighted them in a catalog of the documents.
Archaeology Laboratory Assistant
Faculty researcher: Charlie Goudge
Student researcher: Haleigh Rose
My name is Haleigh Rose. I am a junior majoring in anthropology with a focus on archaeology. When I’m not studying, I can usually be found reading or attempting some new hobby I have no previous experience with. I am an archaeology lab assistant, and this year I will be working with Professor Goudge focusing on organizing and cataloging artifacts from past excavations at Brandeis.
