Rosalie Katchen Travel Award

The Rosalie Katchen Travel Award is available to junior scholars presenting papers exploring topics related to Jewish women and gender issues at the Association for Jewish Studies (AJS) Annual Meeting.

The deadline for applications to the 2022 AJS conference in Boston is October 21, 2022.

About Rosalie E. Katchen

Rosalie E. Katchen was the Hebraica Librarian at Brandeis University. In this role she gave indispensable assistance to faculty and students alike. Rosalie’s warmth, efficiency and deep knowledge of Judaica, as well as library and technical cataloguing, made her invaluable throughout the Jewish Studies research world. Rosalie directed the computerization of the Brandeis Hebraica collection and worked internationally to improve online cataloguing of Hebrew books, rare books and periodicals.

Rosalie was an active and cherished member of the HBI Academic Advisory Committee. A highly intelligent, thoughtful and caring friend and colleague, her courage and optimism inspired many.
