At Language Empowering Action Project (LEAP), our mission is to provide free English courses in a 6-8 week program for adult learners at Brandeis University. Our adult learners are predominantly immigrants, and we work to help them build confidence and navigate through the English speaking world.

We have recently expanded to tutoring ESL high school students at the Boys and Girls Club with Waltham Group organization, TAPS. We offer classes ranging from Beginner English to conversation-based classes; we even offer workbook tutoring. We offer English classes every day of the work week – Monday to Friday. From Fall 2024 to Spring 2025, we had a total of over 100 sign-ups for class. We usually have around 25 volunteers and over 80 different learners across the different classes we hold.

In Spring 2025, we are holding Beginner English in person classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, tutoring ESL students on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Conversational Hours and Movie Nights on zoom for those who are not able to travel to campus. We strive to provide accessible, inclusive classes, and it shows through in our past, current, and future programming and mission. Next year, we plan on holding workshops supporting immigrants in the area with language test tutoring and preparation.
