Prospect Hill Kids' Club partners with the community center at Prospect Hill Terrace, Waltham's largest low-income housing community, in order to provide the community's children with a safe place to come after school. Our coordinators and volunteers serve as role models and mentors to some of the children of Prospect Hill's 140 families.
Our after-school program is free for students and runs Monday through Friday from 2:45-5:30 p.m. A typical Prospect Hill Kids’ Club day is divided into three components. For the first 20 minutes, students arrive at the center and enjoy a healthy snack and a chance to unwind from a long day at school. The next 40 minutes of the program is dedicated to homework and academic enrichment activities. For the remaining time, we do activities with the children, including doing nature programs, playing sports or at the play ground, doing art projects, baking and much more.
Mission Statement
Prospect Hill Kids’ Club (PHKC) provides a safe and productive after-school program that promotes academics, leadership, and a sense of community for the children that reside in the Prospect Hill community. PHKC will be responsible for recruiting, training, and transporting Waltham Group volunteers to and from the program. This after-school program offers recreation and education to children in kindergarten through eighth grade residing in Prospect Hill Terrace, a subsidized housing development. Weeks are structured around themes such as science, healthy living, and life skills. PHKC provides students with healthy snacks, homework help, fun activities, and an extensive library. The program runs five days a week from 2:45-5:15 p.m. during each academic semester.
