Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid
Territories: Washington, DC
I was born in Boston and raised just south of the city. I spent my undergraduate and graduate years in New York, earning a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in organizational and industrial psychology. I truly enjoy getting to know more about you through your personal statements or chatting with you during a campus visit. I have been an athlete all my life and swam competitively throughout college.
When I am not at work, I like to spend as much time as I can outdoors. I try to take one adventure trip a year in addition to leading a wilderness service trip. I look forward to helping you through the admission process.
Director of Admissions
Territories: Guam, New York (Manhattan), Puerto Rico
International Territories: Canada, Oceania, Mexico
I was born and raised in Massachusetts and earned a BA in psychology from Smith College and an EdM in higher education from Harvard University. I started my career in admissions giving campus tours as an undergraduate and love getting to meet prospective students from around the world. I live in Cambridge and spend my free time exploring the Boston culinary scene, cheering for the Sox and traveling. I am excited about making the admissions process accessible to all students and look forward to helping you get to know our great campus.
Senior Associate Director
Territories: Connecticut, Maryland, South Dakota
International Territories: Caribbean
I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and headed south to North Carolina for a BS in business and an MBA. After some time in New York City working with a nonprofit focused on civic engagement, I made my transition to the great work of undergraduate admissions, where I have spent the majority of my career.
If I am not at work, you'll find me biking/walking around Boston, attending symphony and theatre performances, or working on home renovation projects. I look forward to connecting with you to share the Brandeis story and community and to learn about you.
Julia Brown ’19
Territories: New Jersey, Vermont
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, I graduated from Brandeis in 2019 with a BA in Health: Science, Society, and Policy and African and African American Studies. While at Brandeis I was involved in community service, sang in an a cappella group, coordinated new student orientation, and was passionate about connecting and engaging with the Waltham community. While not in the office, you can find me perfecting my bagel recipe, playing tennis or embroidering! I am so excited to welcome you to the Brandeis family!
Territories: Massachusetts (Norfolk and Bristol), New York (upstate), Rhode Island, Virginia, West Virginia
I grew up in northern Virginia and attended the University of Virginia, where I studied creative writing and obtained my MEd in higher education. I've worked with high school students while teaching literature at a British boarding school, in the admissions department of a Boston independent day school, and at a creative writing summer program in central Virginia.
I believe the admissions process should be enlightening, transformative and fun (yes, fun!). I cannot wait to welcome you to Brandeis, and I encourage you to reach out with any questions and/or book recommendations.
Territories: Massachusetts (Boston, Cambridge, Concord, Lowell), Oklahoma, Texas
I am a Boston transplant originally from Pearland, Texas (a suburb south of Houston). I went to Colby College as a Posse Scholar where I majored in biology and sociology. My involvement with education non-profits and human rights organizations helped me to hone my passion for equity and access in the education space.
After graduating from college, I served for two years as a college advisor in two Boston public schools. Now I've decided to move to the other side of the admissions landscape and help find future Brandeis students from all over the world! In my free time, I watch shows on Netflix systematically. Some of my favorites are The Office, Schitts Creek and Shameless.
Senior Assistant Director
Territories: Arkansas, Massachusetts (Cape Cod, Essex County), New York (Westchester, Long Island & Queens)
Born in Boston, I was raised on (not in) Long Island, New York in a small town called Centerport. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a BA in English and women, gender and sexuality studies. During my undergraduate career, I was extremely involved in the Admissions department, working both as a campus tour guide and an admissions fellow. I discovered a passion for higher education, and a strong desire to help students navigate the ever-changing landscape of college admissions.
When I'm not in the office, you can find me exploring the streets of Boston, baking cookies and cheering on the New York Islanders. I am thrilled to be a part of the Brandeis Admissions team and look forward to meeting you.
Territories: Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, Massachusetts (Western), Utah, Washington
International Territories: United Kingdom
I grew up primarily in Austin, Texas, and then attended Tulane University in New Orleans. After college, I worked for a consulting firm in San Francisco before returning to New Orleans to begin my career in admissions. I moved to Boston to join the team at Brandeis and to help bring special students to this incredible university.
I love helping students find a college that will be fulfilling, challenging and life-changing for them. Outside of work I enjoy exploring Boston's culinary and arts scenes, and attending concerts and plays.
Territories: Florida, New Hampshire, New York (Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island)
I grew up outside New Haven, CT with one dog, five cats, and two guinea pigs. We were a family of competitive swimmers, and my parents shuttled us all around New England to swim meets. I spent four years in Maine at Bowdoin College and then moved to the midwest to the University of Chicago, where I earned an MA in Public Policy. After years in admissions at independent schools in the Boston area, I realized my true passion was in higher education and pursued an EdM in Higher Education from Harvard University. I raised three children in Needham and now spend my free time going for long walks, trying out new recipes, and traveling. In the summer I spend some time with family up on Lake Champlain, hiking the Adirondack Mountains, kayaking, and playing board games (my new favorite is Code Names). I look forward to introducing you to the fantastic Brandeis community and helping you through the admissions process!
Associate Director, Marketing and Communications
A native of Lexington, Massachusetts, I earned my undergraduate degree in communication at the University of New Hampshire, and also hold a master's degree in educational leadership and policy studies from Boston University. I'm thrilled to be a member of the Brandeis Office of Admissions and love meeting students and families on and off campus. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outside, cooking and reading.
Shaquan McDowell ’18
Territories: Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Massachusetts (Quincy & Plymouth), Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee
I grew up in the city of South Fulton, just to the southwest of Atlanta, Georgia. I attended Brandeis as a Posse Scholar, graduating in 2018, with a double major in politics and history. As a student, I did community service, sang in an a cappella group and took a deep interest in community building. I served on the Undergraduate Student Union, helping to start and build initiatives that were later adopted as university policy. I studied abroad in London for a semester, working for a leading member of the United Kingdom House of Lords. (Fun fact: I once saw the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.)
Outside of work, I am usually singing, writing articles and novellas, or doing genealogical research. I cannot wait to introduce you to the world of Brandeis — it's a place like no other.

As a proud Minnesotan, I spent my childhood exploring the Twin Cities and paddling the Boundary Waters before moving to Lawrence University to pursue a BA in environmental studies.
