Financial Aid Application Materials
To be considered for Brandeis financial aid, you must indicate your intent to apply for financial aid on the admissions application and submit required aid applications by the stated deadlines. After admission decisions are released, you will not be able to apply for institutional financial aid. Students can apply for federal financial aid, in the form of student loans or work-study assistance, at any time during the school year.

To apply for aid as a first-year applicant with U.S. citizenship*, you should submit:
These forms allow Brandeis to determine your eligibility for aid funded through the University, and estimate your eligibility for federal and state aid. If you'd rather only apply for government aid, and not apply for Brandeis-funded aid, you can just file the FAFSA.
Brandeis requests income tax returns or other documents to determine aid eligibility from Early Decision applicants and on a case-by-case basis for Regular Decision applicants. Tax returns will also be required upon deposit to finalize all need-based scholarship awards.
*Undocumented applicants — with or without Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) status, Temporary Protected Status, or Asylum status — will automatically be considered for merit-based scholarships, and should submit a CSS Profile to be considered for need-based financial aid.
To apply for aid as a transfer applicant with U.S. citizenship*, you must submit:
- A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for federal and state aid. Use FAFSA Code 002133.
- A CSS Profile to be considered for need-based scholarships offered by Brandeis. Use CSS Code 3092.
- Your parent(s) 2023 Federal Tax Return, with all pages, schedules, W-2s and signatures
- Your (the student's) 2023 Federal Tax Return, with all pages, schedules, W-2s and signatures
- If your parents/guardians own a business or a farm, you'll be asked to submit complete copies of their 2023 business tax returns (i.e., Schedule C, Partnership, S-Corporation and U.S. Corporation).
- If you stated that your natural parents are divorced or separated, you'll need to have your noncustodial parent (the parent with whom you do not live) complete the Noncustodial Profile.
These forms allow Brandeis to determine your eligibility for aid funded through the University, and estimate your eligibility for federal and state aid. If you'd rather only apply for government aid, and not apply for Brandeis-funded aid, you can just file the FAFSA.
*Undocumented applicants — with or without Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) status, Temporary Protected Status, or Asylum status — will automatically be considered for merit-based scholarships, and should submit a CSS Profile to be considered for need-based financial aid.
To apply for aid and scholarships as an international student, first year and transfer applicants must submit:
- A CSS Profile to be considered for need-based scholarships offered by Brandeis. Use CSS Code 3092.
Brandeis may also request documentation of non-U.S. income and assets, or other documents, to determine aid eligibility on a case-by-case basis. Competition for financial aid among international students is strong, but the University is committed to maintaining and expanding its global campus community — which means it's imperative that applicants who will need financial aid anytime during college apply for it when they apply for admission. All scholarships are awarded for the four years you study here, beginning with the semester for which you're admitted.
International students who are not awarded financial aid for their first year will not be able to receive financial aid in future years.
