Interviews FAQ

Expand All

Should I register for an interview?

An interview is completely optional; however, it is a great way for you to show sides of yourself that you may not be able to on your application and have your questions answered by a member of the Undergraduate Admissions office in a one-on-one setting.

When should I interview?

The earlier the better, especially if you plan on applying Early Decision I on November 1. Interviews are in high demand, so schedule your interview as soon as possible in order to secure your spot. Interviews are made available to applicants in January on a limited basis.

I am not yet a senior in high school. Can I still interview?

No, interviews are reserved for rising and current seniors only.

Can transfer applicants interview?

Yes, interviews for transfers are available to applicants in February. Applicants will be notified by email when registration is available.

Should I schedule a virtual interview or an on-campus interview?

Both of these interview opportunities achieve the same purpose of rounding out your application to Brandeis. Select the option that works best with your availability and comfort.

How should I prepare for my interview?

We invite you to come as you are to your Brandeis interview. It will be conversational, with your interviewer asking questions about your academics, involvement, and fit for Brandeis. All you need to do to prepare is reflect on all of the amazing things you have accomplished and how Brandeis will help shape your future. You will also be given the opportunity to ask your interviewer questions about Brandeis.

What should I wear to my interview?

You should wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Casual clothing is acceptable, especially because we know that many students will be taking a campus tour while on campus.

Do I have to submit my application before I can interview?

Interviews for first-year applicants are open to students in the fall of their senior year regardless of if they have submitted an application. Additionally, we do offer a limited number of interviews to applicants in January (for students who have not interviewed prior).

Transfer students must apply before registering for an interview.

Can I interview more than once?

Because of the high demand for interviews, we ask that you only interview with Brandeis once.

What do I do if I can no longer attend my interview?

You can cancel your interview registration using the link on your confirmation email and schedule a new interview.
