Brandeis University is a member of The Tuition Exchange, a consortium of more than 700 private and public not-for-profit colleges and universities, representing 47 states, the District of Columbia and several other countries that provide tuition assistance to dependents of individuals who work at participating schools.

Dependents of Faculty/Staff from Other Tuition Exchange Member Institutions (Imports)

Tuition Exchange Scholarships are available to first-year (conditional admits excluded) and transfer undergraduate students and awarded at the rate of $44,000 annually for students entering Fall 2026.

Tuition Exchange Scholarships cannot be used in combination with any other merit scholarship offered by Brandeis University, and the awarding of a Tuition Exchange Scholarship supersedes any other scholarship offer.

Tuition Exchange Scholarships cover up to four years (eight semesters) of full-time undergraduate education, excluding summer and online programs. If you are part-time due to a medical underload or senior reduced status, the scholarship amount for each such semester will be prorated accordingly. Tuition Exchange Scholarships may be used for fall/spring study abroad programs for which a student is approved.

Students must live on campus for the first two years of enrollment and must maintain satisfactory academic progress. A FAFSA must be filed each year; the CSS Profile may also be required if students wish to be considered for need-based scholarship beyond the Tuition Exchange Scholarship.

If you are required by the university to go on a Leave of Absence for academic reasons or you are suspended for disciplinary reasons, your Tuition Exchange Scholarship eligibility will be evaluated by the Scholarship Review Committee, which may result in your Tuition Exchange Scholarship being rescinded in the sole discretion of the committee.

Eligibility is verified each year.

Application Procedure

The student must first follow the TE EZ-Application process to create their account using an email address they will be able to continually access after high school. Parents should not create the account. Emails can only be used for one account and using a parent email will ensure it cannot be used for other dependents.

Brandeis University must receive an application for Tuition Exchange Scholarship and confirmation of eligibility by the following deadlines:

New First-Year Students

  • Early Decision I applicants: Nov. 15
  • Early Action applicants: Nov. 15
  • Early Decision II applicants: Jan. 15
  • Regular Decision applicants:  March 1

New Fall Transfer Students

  • March 15

New Spring First-Year or Transfer Students

  • November 15

Brandeis University must also receive an application for admission by our stated deadlines

NOTE: Brandeis will make exceptions to both the Tuition Exchange and admissions deadlines for students applying for Fall 2026. If you are a current Tuition Exchange applicant, you may add Brandeis to your Tuition Exchange application.

Questions regarding Tuition Exchange for import students to Brandeis should be directed to Colby Wagner, Assistant Director of Admissions, at wagnerc@brandeis.edu.

Dependents of Faculty/Staff from Brandeis University (Exports)

Tuition Exchange Scholarships cover either full tuition, one-half tuition for a non-resident student at a public institution (i.e. a student eligible for out-of-state tuition), or a rate set by The Tuition Exchange. They may not cover special fees, course overloads or room and board charges. Private institutions that charge more than $44,000 in 2026-2027 for tuition are permitted to award less than their full tuition, but not less than the set rate of $44,000 annually.

Who is eligible?

The Tuition Exchange Program is open to dependent children of eligible employees after four years of full-time employment. Eligible dependent children of employees may apply for a tuition scholarship at other institutions participating in the program.

The Tuition Exchange Program is administered by The Tuition Exchange Program, Inc., a not-for-profit organization based in Bethesda, MD.

For more information, visit The Tuition Exchange website.

The Tuition Exchange is available to first-time first-year, transfer and continuing students without a bachelor’s degree who meet the dependent child criteria defined in the Faculty/Staff Tuition Benefit requirements.

When is the deadline to apply?

Tuition Exchange Applications for Export dependents should be submitted by January 30, 2026.

Are all eligible students guaranteed a scholarship?

Tuition Exchange Scholarships are not guaranteed, nor is admission guaranteed at member institutions. Eligible dependent students of Brandeis faculty and staff will be evaluated for admission and awarded Tuition Exchange Scholarships based on the criteria of the university to which they are applying.

How many semesters does the scholarship cover?

Tuition Exchange Scholarships certified by Brandeis University typically cover four years or eight semesters of undergraduate education, but this should be confirmed by the host college or university.

Application Procedure

The student must first follow the TE EZ-Application process to create their account using an email address they will be able to continually access after high school. Parents should not create the account. Emails can only be used for one account and using a parent email will ensure it cannot be used for other dependents. Applicants should ensure that they apply to the member school by their stated deadlines.

Scholarship Renewal

Host institution retention policies take priority over Brandeis policies. The employee must maintain continuous full-time employment at Brandeis.

A student awarded the Tuition Exchange Scholarship must meet the minimum academic standards of the school attended for continuation of the award, and the student must abide by all regulations of the institution of enrollment.

Continued receipt of the scholarship requires Brandeis to certify eligibility to the host institution. If the student’s enrollment changes (e.g., withdrawal from classes, early graduation, etc.), the Brandeis employee must notify the Tuition Exchange Liaison Officer at Brandeis.

The HR Tuition Exchange Liaison Officer (TELO) will confirm the parent’s continued eligibility each semester. Brandeis employees with questions about The Tuition Exchange should email humanresources@brandeis.edu.
