Brandeis Judaica Librarian, Dr. Rachel Greenblatt plans to continue a project begun by a Gilda Slifka intern in 2021 compiling a resource for teachers and users of source sheets, the ubiquitous tool used for Torah study, that provides bibliographic information and, where possible, access to non male-identified Torah voices. The endeavor follows from a September 2020 column in eJewishPhilantropy which focused on eliminating all-male authored source sheets. Dr. Greenblatt seeks an intern to assist in the research and development of this resource, most likely in the creation of a “LibGuide.” The selected intern will have the opportunity to become familiar with databases for Jewish text, such as the Bar Ilan Responsa Project, Sefaria, Otsar HaHochma, etc.
Profile of Appropriate Candidate

Ability to engage in basic text study in Jewish sources

Reading knowledge of rabbinic and modern Hebrew (required)

Yiddish, German, French, Ladino, Judeo-Arabic (helpful, but not required)

Excellent English writing skills; highly proficient English reading

Strong attention to details, especially in properly citing sources

Tolerance for some degree of tedium in daily work

Ability to meet deadlines and complete assignments independently
