HackMyPhD Introduces Doctoral Students and Postdocs to Entrepreneurship Join Us July 27 for a Daylong Seminar on Alternative Academic Careers Mandel Center for the Humanities

Brandeis Innovation brings together Boston's innovation and research communities with the first of its kind event: HackMyPhD, a daylong seminar for STEAM graduate students to take control of their careers, including exploring entrepreneurship

Join us at this I-Corps program looking at career options beyond the classroom or university lab. Industry speakers who have made the leap will share, through workshops and sessions, how to:

  • Launch your own startup using skills gained as a doctoral student
  • Find opportunities at existing startups and established tech companies
  • Translate your skills in research into a meaningful career

You’ll meet entrepreneurs that went the PhD to startup founder route and researchers with experience in practical application and commercialization. Hack your PhD at this daylong event with takeaways for students in both STEAM and social sciences. 

Announcing the 2017 SPROUT Grant Winners

Brandeis Innovation has recently announced the winners of its 7th Annual SPROUT Program. Designed to encourage academic and entrepreneurial success, SPROUT allows candidates to submit their research projects for funding to a panel of judges. This year’s panel chose 8 projects from a range of different fields, including genetics, medicine, and green engineering. From Lyme disease treatments to a new source of sustainable energy, the teams are truly working on healing the most pressing challenges the world faces today.

William Tarimo: Transforming Educational Technology, One Classroom at a Time

Teaching and learning have come a long way since the days of the first PCs. At the heart of it all, though, the principles of teaching remain the same: preparing the next generation of professionals and scholars through engaging dialog. That’s where a Brandeis Innovation project, Discovery Teaching, is hoping to create transformative new technology that brings the dialog of traditional learning into the mobile age.

The Impact of University Innovation on the US Economy

The Bayh-Dole Act of 1980 significantly increased and accelerated the transfer of university discoveries to the marketplace. 

Brandeis is one of the many universities that continues to make important contributions to science and technology. This month's infographic shows the great accomplishment of the Brandeis Innovation community and our 269 (and counting) patents and nearly eight million dollars in royalty income received, to benefit the Brandeis University community.

2nd Boston Symposium of Encoded Library Platforms

The Brandeis Chemistry Department, together with GlaxoSmithKline and Pharmaron, is hosting the 2nd Boston Symposium of Encoded Library Platforms on August 4th in the Shapiro Theater. This symposium will feature 8 speakers from industry and academic labs, covering the newest developments in the technology of encoded small molecule libraries and related topics.
