Our Office:

The Undergraduate Research and Creative Collaborations Office ( URCC ), launched in 2020, is a unit in the School of Arts & Sciences, led by Dean Dorothy Hodgson. Through a grant* from the Davis Educational Foundation, the URCC is building an infrastructure to support Brandeis undergraduates’ access to research and creative opportunities. For more information, contact the Director of Undergraduate-Faculty Research Partnerships, Margaret Lynch, at margaretlynch@brandeis.edu.

*The grant was received from the Davis Educational Foundation established by Stanton and Elisabeth Davis after Mr. Davis's retirement as chairman of Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc.

Research 101 Workshops for Fall 2021

The URCC Research 101 workshops can help you learn more about how to get involved in research and creative projects at Brandeis. For the convenience of students, this one-hour workshop is repeated monthly. Each session presents the same content. Learn how to:

  • get involved and when to start
  • identify your interests
  • search for research opportunities
  • reach out to potential faculty mentors
  • apply for funding
  • present and share your research or creative project
  • get support and advice at all steps in the process
Please note that the workshop room’s capacity is limited. Priority will be given to students who  sign up   in advance. There will be snacks and beverages, too!

Find More Brandeis Research Opportunities and Faculty Mentors!

Are you interested in finding research jobs, fellowships, and faculty at Brandeis? The URCC has launched a new searchable database of undergraduate research fellowships and grants, paid research assistant jobs, and faculty mentors.

Later this month and in October, current undergraduates will receive several follow up emails with more details about how to use the ForagerOne Undergraduate Research Opportunities database. This project was made possible with grant funding from the Davis Educational Foundation.

Congratulations to the Summer 2021 Undergraduate Research Fellows!

Twenty-six undergraduate student research fellowships were awarded for Summer 2021 projects. The URCC summer fellowship recipients can be found on the URCC website’s Recent Awards page. These opportunities for undergraduate student research would not be possible without the generous support of our donors and the Provost’s Office. Thank you to our donors, the selection committee members, faculty mentors, staff, and of course the students!

Undergraduate Research Spotlight: Natasha Chairayat, ‘22

The Undergraduate Research and Creative Collaborations Office highlights students who have engaged in research and creative projects. We share their experiences through our website , newsletter, and other Brandeis channels. This newsletter features Natasha Chaiyarat, ’22, an undergraduate researcher and URCC office assistant since September 2020. Natasha applied for and received the competitive American Bar Foundation Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship.

Natasha answered a few questions from the URCC about her research experience. Read the spotlight to learn how she navigated the process of finding a research opportunity, challenges she faced, and positive outcomes of the experience.
