Replacement Diplomas

In cases of lost or damaged diplomas, alumni can request a replacement diploma. Duplicate diplomas cannot be issued under any other circumstances.

If the original diploma was never received in the mail and this is reported to the Office of the University Registrar within six months of one's graduation date, a replacement diploma can be ordered free of charge. However, if reported after six months, the replacement diploma order must be accompanied with a money order (refer to the cost/delivery time table below).

Steps for Ordering a Replacement Diploma

  1. Complete the replacement diploma order form (PDF). Please be sure to fill out all fields. Note that it is especially important to list your phone number for a diploma being shipped internationally.
  2. Provide a scanned version or picture of your government issued ID or official name change documentation.
  3. Obtain a money order or bank check in the proper amount, payable to ‘Brandeis University’. We cannot accept cash or a personal check; however, if you would like to pay via credit card, please contact Taylor Seidel (tseidel@brandeis.edu) for additional information.
  4. Mail the completed form along with a picture of your government issued ID or official name change document, and your money order or bank check to the address below. Note that you can also email the completed form along with a picture of your government issued ID or official name change documentation. Standard Service

The Office of the University Registrar needs all required materials (completed form, money order and damaged diploma (when applicable) before processing the replacement diploma request and forwarding the order to our outside vendor. The vendor requires three to four weeks to issue and mail the new diploma. Standard service orders are sent via first class U.S. Postal Service. Please see estimated delivery times below.

Rush Service

In case of an urgent order, we offer special rush processing. Please specify your need for the rush service on your completed form. The diploma is expected to arrive five to seven business days after our receipt of the money order and notarized replacement diploma order form (PDF). All diplomas requested through rush service will be mailed via UPS. As UPS does not deliver to post office box addresses, rush service orders cannot be delivered to a P.O. Box.

Please note: A replacement diploma will not be ordered until we have received the completed form, payment and damaged diploma (if applicable). The registrar’s office cannot be responsible for the condition or delivery time of diplomas delivered by the U.S. Postal Service or another delivery service. No refunds will be given for undelivered or nondeliverable mail.
