We know you may have questions about your financial aid offer given the changes and delays to the 2024-2025 FAFSA.
Financial aid offers at Brandeis are calculated from the information you provided on your CSS Profile and any other supplemental information submitted. Based on our experience in previous years, we believe the financial aid packages we have provided will be largely accurate, assuming that the information provided on your FAFSA aligns with what you provided on the CSS Profile.
If you have not yet submitted the FAFSA, the deadline to do so is May 15, 2024.
Below are some common questions you may have about the FAFSA and your financial aid package.

Brandeis will
extend the enrollment deadline to May 15 for admitted students who are awaiting financial aid offers from other colleges due to FAFSA-related delays. To request an
extension,
students must submit the Enrollment Deadline Extension Request form. Students will be notified by email if their deadline has been extended.
You can check the status of FAFSA through the FSA website. If your FAFSA is “In Review” or “Processed,” your FAFSA form has been successfully completed. If your FAFSA is not in one of these statuses, you will need to correct the issues before submitting. Your FAFSA will be one of the following statuses.
Draft: Your section of the FAFSA form is incomplete.
In Progress: You provided your consent, approval, and signature to your section of the FAFSA form, but it has not been submitted yet.
In Review: Your FAFSA form was submitted but hasn't been processed yet.
Action Required: You are missing your consent and approval or signature, or the FAFSA form was processed, but a correction is required.
Processed: Your application was processed successfully. No further action is needed.
Closed: Your FAFSA form was never submitted and can no longer be submitted because the federal FAFSA deadline passed.
FSA has started to send FAFSA data to colleges at a slow pace. Please know that we are monitoring our FAFSA data daily.
When we receive your FAFSA, we will mark its receipt on your Financial Aid Checklist in DEISconnect.
Financial aid packages from Brandeis are always tentative at the time of admission. This is due to finalizing the actual 2024-2025 Brandeis standard cost of attendance and confirming financial information from your tax returns or other verification documents.
Based on our experience in previous years, we believe the packages we have provided will be largely accurate, provided that the information on the 2022 tax returns and information on the FAFSA align with what you provided on the CSS Profile.
Every year, tuition rates are finalized after admissions decisions and tentative financial aid packages are released. Any increase in tuition will result in an increase to your need-based aid, provided that there are no other changes from the information provided on the CSS Profile and other supporting documents.
We anticipate finalizing packages for enrolled students in May and June. This will be done on a rolling basis, and you will receive an email from Student Financial Services with your final financial aid details.
Yes, you may file an appeal if there has been a change to your family’s financial circumstances. The deadline is April 15. Read more about appealing for reconsideration or schedule a meeting with your financial aid counselor.
