Any graduate student experiencing distress can reach out to the Office of Graduate Affairs. Although staff at this office are not confidential, they report up through the Division of Student Affairs and so can provide another layer of privacy from your particular department or program. Graduate Affairs staff can also help to find the appropriate person with whom you can work with resources across campus or within your own graduate school. Graduate students who need academic support can always reach out to the Office of Graduate Affairs. Staff there can either help directly, or point you to the right resource. Generally speaking, if you're having an academic issue, it is best to first speak with your professor and/or your adviser. If that doesn't help, or isn't possible, you can turn to the director of graduate studies (DGS), the program director or chair of the department. If that doesn't help or isn't possible:
