Career Treks: Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
We love a field trip! Only at Hiatt, our focus is on industry networking and careers, instead of sacked lunches and the buddy system. Our Career Treks are interactive visits to Boston-area companies where students meet with employers and Brandeis alumni, while gaining a better understanding of work life and culture in a specific company and industry. And sometimes, yes, we’ll get there on the school bus!
This fall, our Career Treks visited offices in the life sciences, internet software development and e-commerce industries, providing students with valuable insights and connections to help guide their career paths.
Some of the places we traveled this fall:
Chewy
Two paws up for our career campus trek to the Boston Hub of pet product online retailer, Chewy! Brandeis students were treated to a tour and presentation by Chewtopian team members about the company's mission, culture, and career opportunities.
In addition to learning about the company, representatives shared insights about how they screen resumes and what they look for. Just as Hiatt suggests, the resume is a marketing tool where you can share what you have to offer, what makes you stand out, and what relevant skills, education and work accomplishments support your claims.
Repligen Corporation
Boston is the number one hotspot for healthcare and life science jobs in the Northeast! Which means we’re lucky at Brandeis to have so many life science companies of every size right in our backyard.
Repligen Corporation, a bioprocessing-focused life sciences company, welcomed us to their corporate headquarters in Waltham. Students majoring in related fields enjoyed a tour, as well as a panel discussion and Q&A with executives.
Wayfair
Students felt right at home during a trek to Wayfair’s headquarters in Boston! Led by Wayfair’s recruiting team, the day included an office tour and an info session, panel and Q&A with recent-graduate team members.
Brandeis alumni were featured on the panel: Zhengxin Bao MA’18, Eric D'Aguanno ’22, George Velonias ’17, Young Wang ’24 and Ashley Zhang MS’22!
ZoomInfo
As part of Brandeis’ “Tech Week,” our career trek to ZoomInfo here in Waltham gave students the opportunity to connect with a leading local employer in software and data! Team members shared insights into the organization and career paths.
Brandeis alumni can be found in all types of careers and industries! Chelsi Hu ’17, a Software Engineer at ZoomInfo, helped welcome students and shared insights.
