Virtual Fair Guide
Hiatt's industry-focused virtual career fairs are designed to connect students with employers looking to fill internship and full-time opportunities. All undergraduate students, in all majors, class years and with all types of career goals are invited to attend any of our virtual career fairs throughout the year.
Why should you attend?
- Even when you apply online, the personal employer connections you make during fairs like this one help set you above other applicants.
- Gain exclusive insights about companies, roles, the hiring process (application timelines and submission deadlines) and what makes a strong candidate.
- Discover new job and internship openings, and ask any questions about roles you’re interested in applying for.
- Make meaningful connections with recruiters and alumni in the field.
Post-Registration Steps for Virtual Fairs on Handshake
Now that you have confirmed your attendance, you need to complete some additional steps so you can meet directly with employers and be prepared for the fair.
- Set your schedule immediately once registration opens as sessions fill up fast!
- Options include group sessions (30-minute group meetings with organizations) and 1:1 sessions (10-minute, one-on-one meetings with you and the employer). Review this tutorial to learn how to sign up for sessions.
- You can research the list of participating employers through Handshake to determine the organizations you're most interested in.
- Schedule an Express Appointment with a Hiatt Advisor to update and/or review your resume.
- Add the fair to your Google Calendar.
- On the day of the fair, be ready to log into your Handshake account to join your scheduled video sessions. You'll want a working video camera to participate in sessions. If you do not have a camera on your computer, join using the Handshake mobile app or just use your computer's microphone.
What to Expect
Come to this event prepared as if you were attending in person. Not only is there a live video component, there are also opportunities to meet one-on-one with an employer in a virtual room. Review our video of do's and don'ts when participating in a virtual fair on Hiatt's YouTube channel.

All attendees should have an updated Handshake profile that includes their most updated work information, career interests, desired work location as well as a newly updated and uploaded resume. This will help you apply to positions that you are interested in much more quickly and will let employers know what you are interested in when they are recruiting through Handshake.
