I was first prompted to use Rise Together because I was lost in my career path. I knew that I found health policy and the intersection of healthcare and business interesting, but I was unsure what job opportunities might be available in those fields. I realized that before I could begin looking for opportunities, I needed to learn more about what it is like to work in the health policy field from a professional currently working in it.
Since I knew the field of the people I wanted to talk to, I used the Rise Together directory to search for healthcare consulting and healthcare administration (under industries) and found a few professionals who worked in fields I was interested in. After choosing a couple of alumni, I sent them a message through Rise Together and was able to continue our conversation over email to set up informational interviews.
These informational interviews ended up being extremely helpful in my career exploration. I learned a lot about the different pathways involving health policy and careers similar to healthcare consulting. I was also able to gain insights into higher education, specifically which graduate programs would be best for me based on the career I wanted to pursue. It was enlightening to hear both of their different perspectives and journeys to get to where they are currently.
