Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships
The fellowships were first awarded in 2012. Each student receives a stipend of $5,000 to support their participation in undergraduate research for the summer. Projects are usually ongoing in the laboratory and typically result in a senior honor thesis.
The fellowships are supported by gifts, primarily from Brandeis alumni. Starting in 2016, a grant from the M.R. Bauer Foundation has similarly supported fellows working at Brandeis. A more complete list of donors can be found on the undergraduate research funding page.
Students present their work at SciFest, our annual poster session showcasing the work of undergraduates doing science all over the campus.
As of February 2022, of the 83 supported students who have graduated, we know that:
- 35 are PhD students;
- 7 are combined MD/PhD students;

Thirteen additional students are currently working in science research assistant/technician jobs. Most of these former students will go onto graduate school.
