Dear Colleagues,
With senior leadership support and approval, ITS will be moving forward with an initiative to replace physical Cisco desk phones with Zoom Phone this summer, available through our Zoom Workplace application.
In addition to the sustainability benefits realized by removing our reliance on the physical phones, usability benefits include the availability of a unified platform for meetings and phone service.
In addition, Zoom Phone can be added to any device - desktop computer, laptop, tablet or cell phone - so in effect, your campus phone can be available to you at any time. Zoom phone only requires internet access and your Brandeis credentials.
Zoom Phone will be rolled out to all current faculty and staff with an active Brandeis phone extension. Given the need to synchronize the rollout with the changeover from physical phone use, three cutover dates have been selected for this transition:
- Wednesday, June 18th,
- Wednesday, July 9th, and
- Wednesday, July 23rd.
Please fill out the attached registration form and select the date that best fits your schedule. You will need to confirm your existing extension and your building location also.
Registration forms MUST be filled out by May 16th if you would like to be included in the first wave on June 18th. For the July 9 and July 23 waves, we request that all registration forms be submitted no later than May 30th.
ITS will host virtual drop-in sessions to assist you with your Zoom Phone settings. Dates will be shared in early June. More information about this initiative including FAQs may be found on the Zoom Phone webpage.
