Generation One Network
Brandeis University is excited to provide a new home for students who will be the first in their families to graduate from college!
The Gen One Network is a community dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging and support for first-generation students. Recognizing the unique challenges these students face, Brandeis has designed a number of initiatives aimed at building a strong community, celebrating diversity and providing resources for success.
Gen One Network Foundational Principles
These events serve as platforms for students to connect, share experiences and form meaningful relationships with peers, faculty, staff and alumni. Additionally, they ensure that first-generation students have guidance and support throughout their academic journey.
We actively celebrate first-generation identities, raise awareness about the experiences of our first-generation students and advocate for policies that support their academic and holistic success at Brandeis.
Through a variety of events and outreach programs, we share valuable resources and information that empower our members to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. We remain attentive to the evolving needs of our community, actively considering and creating new resources as necessary.
“Through the Gen One community, I feel like I've come to not only understand myself better but also reflect on how I should move forward as a first-generation college student. I'm also grateful for how this community has opened so many doors of friendship for me.”
