Major: Business and Economics Major

Semester abroad: Summer 2021

Study Abroad Program: Brandeis in Copenhagen

Reason you chose this program: I was able to study abroad in a new and wonderful city, while fulfilling major requirements for both my majors and putting myself ahead academically, without taking up time during the regular school year.

Favorite class: ECON 142B Behavioral Economics. This class gave me a new perspective on how economics mixes with psychology in our daily lives, and it was really interesting!

How you incorporate your Brandeis major into your abroad experience? Brandeis in Copenhagen is specifically centered around business and economics, so it was easy to take classes that fit into both my majors. I was also able to explore how Copenhagen does business from simply being in and around the city.

Housing situation: I was living in a huge apartment in the Center of Copenhagen. It was very central and only a 2 minute walk to the largest metro station in the city, so I could go most places really easily, thanks to Denmark's wonderful public transportation. We also had a courtyard that we could hang out in!

What were some parts of your identity that you thought about while considering study abroad that other students may want to talk to you about? I was originally very anxious to spend so much time away from home, but studying abroad was one of the best experiences of my life, and I am so glad I went!

Favorite memory: I loved being able to go down to the docks with my friends and going swimming on our time off. In Copenhagen the canals are really clean, and lots of people go swimming in them. It was so fun to just hang out there with out free time. We would bring snacks from the local supermarkets and hang out for hours on end.

What you know now that you didn’t know before? No matter where you are in the world, if you give yourself enough time, you will adjust to a new place and you may even find somewhere you want to call home. You just have to try it!

Fact about Denmark that you think people would be surprised to learn: Denmark is one of the happiest countries in the world!
