Profile: Lizy Dabanka '20

Majors: Politics, IGS, AAAS
Study Abroad Program: Hansard Scholars in London
Current Role: Law Student
Why did you originally choose to study abroad in London? To get experience working in politics. The internship opportunity was unmatched.
What have you been up to since graduation? Worked as a teacher for a year and currently a student at Columbia Law School.
What lessons or skills did you learn from studying abroad that you still think about today or still impact you today on your current path? Interning was extremely valuable because it taught me how a different (but similar) political system operates. The cultural exchange in a country that is similar was also very eye opening.
One memory from abroad that still feels like it happened yesterday: Traveling to Scotland and eating the best Indian food I’ve ever had in central London.
Your message to students thinking about studying abroad: Do it. There will (likely) be no other opportunity where you will have this very unique opportunity.
