Application and Admissions

Prerequisites

Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have completed the necessary sequence of courses in the field of their lab project. Specific project prerequisites can be viewed here. Please contact the Office of Study Abroad if you think you have an appropriate substitute or have questions about your eligibility for the program.

Students with relevant coursework and experience will have preference in the admissions process. 

Students are encouraged to take a Spanish language course prior to attending the program.

Application Process

  2. Schedule an advising appointment with your advisor in the Office of Study Abroad by phone (781-736-3483) or online.
  3. Click here to begin your application to Brandeis in San Juan. Once your application is opened, you will have access to the Online Study Abroad Account application materials described below.

Application Deadlines

Summer 2026 Application Deadline: February 12, 2026

Applications will be reviewed after the application deadline to ensure a fair review of all qualified applicants. Once all project spaces have been filled, the program will accept remaining applicants to a waitlist. This program is expected to be competitive and students are encouraged to consider an alternate program option in case they are not selected to participate. 

Application Decisions

A review committee of Brandeis faculty and staff will make admissions decisions and assign project placements. Application decisions will be released on February 17, 2026. To hold a spot on the program, you will be required to submit a $500 non-refundable deposit within 10 days of acceptance. Students will also be asked to complete a Notification Form and Financial Statement attesting to their commitment to the program.
